Here is some information on the back of Mr. Puckett's Trading Card (a card we share with Visitor's to our Museum):
I was born in1923 and grew up in what is now known as Allen, Mississippi and later lived in Tallulah, LA. I was one of very few African Americans to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII, as it was still a time of segregation. I fought in one of the worst battles of the war and it began in December of 1944, in Europe. It was called the Battle of the Bulge. The Battle of the Bulge took place in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium. When the Germans attacked the area they pushed back the center of the Allied forces' line. If you were to look at a map of the Allied army front, there would have been a bulge where the Germans attacked . It was cold and I remember, that at times I would go to remove my boots & socks & chunks of my skin would come off. I was honored to receive the following medals for my service: The World War II Medal, The Army of Occupation Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
Red, White & Blue Air Show- Saluting America's Heroes is Returning to Monroe, LA in 2023 !!
